WEATHER CONDITIONS
Weather conditions: |
| Snow cover stayed exceptionally long. Rapid melt from June 4-11, followed by more snow and rain in the 2nd half of June and early July. |

| Date of 50%
snow-cover: |
11 June |

BIOTIC CONDITIONS
| Rodents abundance evaluation: |
high |
Breeding conditions:
| The weather in 1994 on Wrangel was worst since 1930s. About 15,000 nests of Snow Geese were initiated, only about 2,000 hatched. Very low proportion of juveniles during banding. Clutch and brood size below average, high nest predation by foxes, a lot of nest abandonment due to severe weather. |
Rodent dynamics:
| Both Siberian and Collared Lemmings showed small peak early, followed by decrease.
Rodent species recorded:
| Latin | Abundance |
| Lemmus sibiricus | common |
| Dicrostonyx torquatus | common |

Summary
of fauna studies: |
| Main aim of the expedition was banding of Snow Geese, and we arrived quite late in the brood-raring season; however, V.V.Baranyuk monitored goose colony all season. This is part of a long-termed study by Russian, U.S. and Canadian researchers. |
